In house training shows that operators have been trained to the same high standard you expect from TechSafe Solutions Limited by our fully qualified instructors but the certification is not recognised by any accrediting body.


BRITTOP Accredited

We are able to offer this course fully accredited by BRITTOP as an accredited training provider we meet the high standards set out by all of our awarding organisations and the BRITTOP accreditation shows your clients and employees your commitment to achieving a recognised level of training. Our BRITTOP accredited courses are charged at the same price as our in house training plus registration costs with the accrediting body.

Level of Training

Novice Operators

Those who have had very little or no previous experience of operating a piece of equipment and have not received any type of formal training would normally require a full novice course, the time can vary depending on the type of equipment.

Unqualified Operators

This course is designed for those who have extensive practical experience, but hold no formal certification of any kind. The operators ability will be assessed prior to beginning the course and the course time will be reduced compared to a full novice training course.

Refresher 

It is recommended that operators received refresher training every 3-5 years. This course offers a short refresh course for those who hold formal certification that is coming up for expiry, it is also often used following accident or incident as support evidence of competence.  This course is for those operators who hold experience and previous formal training.

Course Content and Objectives

At the end of this course, candidates will be able to:

➢ Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a Slinger/Signaller.

Be able to conform to manufactuers requirements as per technical data. conform to relevant regulations and legislation.

➢ Be able to locate, identify and explain different types of lifting equipment and lifting accessories. Explain their basic construction, uses, applications and their functions.

➢ Be able to interpret and extract information on all relevant documentation.

Undertake all pre-use check on non-specialist lifting accessories and identify non-servicable items.

Explain procedures for placing non-servicable items out-of-service.

Identify and explain centres of gravity and calculate estimated weights of loads.

Set up exclusion zone explaining actions required for emergency actions, identifying any overhead hazards.

Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for Slinger / Signaller use.

Secure various types of loads to a hook using the relevant lifting accessories and procedures ensuring load balance, security and integrity.

Direct and guide the movement of loads to different types of location using different methods of communication.

➢ Environmental considerations.

➢ Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures.

Certificates and Qualifications

On successful completion of this course candidates will receive the appropriate qualification  based on the type of training they have chosen along with either a BRITTOP operator card or an in house certificate of training.
